Young veterans returning from the war in Iraq face a host of difficult challenges, from re-acclimating to civilian life to dealing with unpaid bills and the hard memories of war. In an upcoming MTV News special, “Choose or Lose & Kanye West Present: Homecoming,” the Chicago MC and MTV’s Sway Calloway give returning veterans the surprise of their lives during home visits where they listen to the soldiers’ stories and express gratitude for their service.

When I saw the story of the young gentleman Tirann I bursted into tears. From his PTSD to his high bills I admire his strength to go forward to work hard for his family. I’m a 17 year old, senior in high school and everyday life for me is easy. My parents love me and they give me anything I need. So when I watched his story it showed me how amazing I have it and that I should be the last person I complain. I absolutely look up to all these people in these stories and watching this has made a huge change in my life. Thank you to Sway and Kanye West and to all the young men and women who served for my freedom. I am forever in debt of their courage!
