Barack Obama to Introduce Kanye at Lollapalooza?

Barack Obama will introduce Kanye West onstage at Lollapalooza Festival (August 1-3) in an attempt to appeal to hip-hop fans, according to reports in the US media.
The Democratic Presidential Candidate, who has talked openly about aiming to use hip-hop to connect with his electorate, is expected to make a brief stage appearance at the festival in his home town of Chicago alongside the rapper-producer.
Speaking on US TV show ‘What’s In It For Us’, Obama explained: “I’ve met with [b]Kanye [West]. And I’ve talked to other artists about how potentially to bridge that gap. I think the potential for them to deliver a message of extraordinary power that gets people thinking (is massive).”
The move comes after an announcement that Kanye West is going to perform at an event at the Democratic Convention in Denver (August 25-28), alongside Wyclef Jean and N.E.R.D.
Sources close to the candidate have told reporters, that Obama has left a slot open in his schedule for the appearance at the festival in Grant Park, less than a mile from the national campaign headquarters.
Delayed Kanye West gig angers Bonnaroo crowd

MANCHESTER, Tenn. — Kanye West’s late night performance at Bonnaroo was delayed nearly two hours, angering the festival crowd who responded by chanting “Kanye sucks” and pelting the empty stage with glow sticks.
West had been scheduled to take the main stage at the Bonnaroo Music & Arts Festival at 2:45 a.m. Sunday morning. While the sleepy thousands in the audience waited, a message on the jumbotrons told them West’s show would be delayed until 3:15 a.m., and when that didn’t happen, that he would start at 3:30. West didn’t hit the stage until 4:25 a.m.

Rolling Stone: Kanye Proves Hip-Hop Tours Can Be Big Business

Every night on Kanye West’s Glow in the Dark Tour, an alien comes down from the sky and declares the rapper “the biggest star in the universe.”
That may or may not be true, but this spring, West and his one-time mentor Jay-Z have achieved something almost as unlikely: They’ve turned hip-hop into a blockbuster touring business. Jay-Z’s tour with Mary J. Blige, which ended in early May, grossed more than $23 million, including sold-out dates at Madison Square Garden and the Hollywood Bowl.
West’s tour with Rihanna, N.E.R.D. and Lupe Fiasco, which ends June 13th, is on course to make more than $21 million. Both grosses, as estimated by Pollstar, are strong showings in a genre with a mixed box-office reputation.
“Hip-hop is starting to mature,” says Live Nation exec Faisel Durrani. “At some point we will reflect back at how important these tours were in the growth of the [hip-hop concert] business.”

The headline for West’s tour reads, “For Darfur Presents Kanye West Glow In The Dark Tour.”
For Darfur is a group of South Florida teenagers on a humanitarian and musical mission.
“We put together a concert where people come looking for entertainment and leave wanting to save lives,” Grant Dubler of the University of Pennsylvania said. “We figured, who better than Kanye West?”

Not only was West’s Glow in the Dark Tour show the first concert in more than a decade at McKale, the experience was one of unity for the community — as important as any sporting event that has taken place under its roof.That the last major artist permitted to perform under the UA championship banners was country star Garth Brooks in 1996 proves how far hip-hop has come, and West just kept pushing it forward Thursday night.
“You ever wonder if you’ll find your dreams?” he asked during “I Wonder” off the 2007 multi-platinum album “Graduation.”

Kanye West has tried to keep the design and theme of his new tour shrouded in secrecy, but the cat’s out of the bag now that the nationwide trek opened at Seattle’s KeyArena on Wednesday night. EW.com was on hand for the premiere of the “Glow in the Dark” tour — which also features Rihanna, N.E.R.D., and Lupe Fiasco as opening acts — and can offer a preview of what audiences across the country have in store over the next few months.

Kanye West has opened up about the death of his mother on his official blog, saying she taught him to enjoy life.
Kanye, who is gearing up for his ‘Glow In The Dark’ tour said that he recorded his first new material in over six months just two days ago in Japan, and that the tour planning process has helped him not to lose his mind after the death of Donda West last November.
West blogs:
“I don’t do anything I don’t love anymore… I loved the flashing lights vid so it didn’t matter 2 me if someone one else didn’t. While people chase money I pursue happiness. So many people talk about there investments or how much money they have but there’s so many rich people who spend a lot of that trying 2 buy a piece of happiness. If there’s anything my mom taught me is to enjoy life. I just recorded my first verse in the last 6 months 2 days ago at Bape’s Studio in Japan. It felt good and I was inspired. I absolutely lost my mind (in a good way) on the new Glow in the Dark tour. The constant hours of creating helped me 2 keep from loosing my mind in a bad way. Chris Milk told me tragedy can produce great art and this is definitely true. I am a total mad man now, up till 3 am every night, trying 2 fight pain, board-um, and uncertainty with creativity. All that said, life is good….. good as finding the perfect fabric for a simple one button casual blazer with matching pants.”

I was at an under 500 person Kanye Concert CD release concert the week of Graduation album release. We werent supposed to video tape, but I got the entire “everything I am” song he did with a close to 1 min freestyle that was really nice. It was at Big Boys backyard breakfast, only 4 days after 50 cent had done the same show. Anyway, I just now found the video and put it up on youtube. No other sites have this version, the guy next to me who was filming got his camera taken away.

Kanye West’s upcoming U.S. tour will be sponsored by vodka firm Absolut.
The rapper has dubbed the trek, which begins in Seattle, Washington on 16 April, “The Glow in the Dark Tour Ignited By Absolut 100.”
West says he’s thrilled to stand alongside art and fashion icons like Andy Warhol and Tom Ford.
He explains, “This is a brand that has worked with the preeminent artists of the 20th century — Tom Ford, Andy Warhol, Keith Haring, Helmut Newton.
“These are individuals who have inspired me in my work, and I feel honored to be a part of this legacy.”
Absolut will sponsor after-parties in each tour city.

Earlier reports indicated that Kanye wouldn’t be attending the grammy awards and would instead be performing in Australia.
But according to GoodVirbrationsFestival.com.au, kanYe has now canceled one of his Australian performances and will be attending the 50th annual Grammy Awards on February 10th.

The event is a four day annual music festival whick takes place in Manchester, Tennessee. When I was in Europe I would play this game for hours and hours… it helped me zone out. Everybody would get envolved… Derrick Dudley (Common’s manager) and Consequence were the best other than me… I beat Lexi… Don C beat Jay… Tony Williams beat Common… but every now and then people would speak of this legendary connect 4 champion……….. BEYONCE!!! I had 2 play her!…so last night at Jay’s new 40/40 club in Las Vegas (which is sidebar, crazy big w/ 24krt gold flooring, Black Jack tables, $500 slot machines,the biggest projection screen in the universe and the best turkey burgers I’ve ever had in my life) she beat me 9 times in a row! (and I didn’t even spaz lol) here’s a photo of the only game I won!
